FUELS REDUCTION

A century of fire suppression and decades of clear-cut logging have led to dense forests with a very high risk of catastrophic wildfire. Healthy forests need low-intensity fires to be maintained. These fuel reduction projects help minimize the intensity of wildfires and recreate proper ecosystems.

FUELS REDUCTION PROJECTS:

  • Thin and limb trees around homesteads

  • Remove hazardous trees along roadways

  • Create fuel breaks

  • Thin encroching conifers

PARTNERS HAVE INCLDUED:

  • Private landowners

  • Communities

  • State Fish and Game Dept.

  • US Forest Service

  • BLM
